TEKE::TEKE (HOPPE OFFICIAL VIDEO)

“I always thought of ‘Hoppe’ as having a bit of a 90’s vibe, maybe the Fugazi in me (but with Maya’s delirious tale about an old man who’s cheeks fall off after eating a rice cake… ha, ha) so we tried to simply capture the raw and punk energy of the song and keep the camera moving, with a fish-eye type lens.”

TEKE::TEKE - A BRIEF HISTORY

:: Dive into the TEKE::TEKE Universe ::

Get to know TEKE::TEKE's story from the very first show as a tribute band to Japanese guitar legend Takeshi Terauchi in 2017, to the release of their first full-length album 'Shirushi' on May 7th 2021 with Portland-based label Kill Rock Stars.

‘Barbara’ (Lyric Video)

The initial inspiration for this song is a true story that happened to me,’’ (rhythm guitarist Hidetaka Yoneyama). “I was randomly mistaken for an old lady by this stranger on the street who came up to me screaming Barbara? Barbara?! It’s you?! Barbara?! Maya [TEKE::TEKE’s vocalist] then had the idea of taking the story to another level by turning it into this psychedelic tale of ‘Yokai’ (‘ghost’ or ‘spirit’) that escapes a house and goes on doing all sorts of pranks on people, that spirit being Barbara.”

‘Yoru Ni’

Our latest DIY video, for the song ‘Yoru Ni’ , off our upcoming album ‘Shirushi’ due for release on May 7th with Kill Rock Stars.

MEIKYU

Here is our first official music video. ‘Meikyu’ is our latest single off our upcoming album ‘Shirushi’ due for release on May 7th with label Kill Rock Stars.

’When plans with a hired animator fell through, Maya and I decided to take things into our own hands, hence the DIY aesthetic.’’ guitarist Nakauchi-Pelletier says. Maya adds ‘’We like working as a team on these visual projects and strive to get better, so we just go for it - I'll make some drawings or paintings and then use whatever tools we have off hand, learn new softwares on the spot and ways of working as we go’’. Nakauchi-Pelletier concludes‘’Also, this is yet another video put together during a pandemic, which explains the footage of all band members taken individually… We gave it our best shot, we humbly hope people can enjoy it and get a good sense of the band and the song’’.

This live video of our song ‘Kala Kala’ was taken in Montreal, in February 2020, just before COVID-19 hit. Shot and edited by Ian Cameron.

‘Chidori’ is our debut single with label Kill Rock Stars. It is a cover of legendary Japanese guitarist Takeshi Terauchi and was released alongside our song ‘Kala Kala’. Both are available now on every platforms.
